About Odysseus Strain

REAL NAME: Jonathon Wilson
REAL AGE: 19
MENTAL AGE: 45

At some point in the last decade a relative of mine realised that society couldn't accomodate my massive intellect and gave me a hand-me-down Atari Amiga to keep me distracted.

I liked the Amiga and the dusty handful of games that came with it - I liked it so much in fact that since then playing games has been pretty much the primary focus of my entire life.

When my gaming OCD set in, I needed to constantly feed it in order to prevent a giant cataclysmic event. It was tough, back in the day. The only thing I could do was play more and more challenging titles in the hope that I would eventually find one that I wouldn't be able to beat. I came close a few times - Ninja Gaiden, 100% on GTA: San Andreas, but I never really had anything to show for what I was doing and all the effort started to seem a little worthless.

I had a Wii and a PS3 for a while. Good consoles, both of them. Not what I was looking for though; they didn't have that kind of reward system I needed - that virtual trophy cabinet of accomplishments that I could use to measure my worth as a human being.

In the dawn of 2010, a friend of mine told me about the Achievement system on the Xbox 360, a system I had casually overlooked because I wasn't too fond of the original. "A points system based around accomplishing various things within the game?" I asked, incredulous. "That's fucking brilliant!".

And so I bought an Xbox 360, Odysseus Strain was born and from there the rest is only five days old so there isn't really much I can say about it.

To summarise, I'm an obssessive compulsive, I have been playing games since I was old enough to identify the shapes on the screen and I like achievements.

Oh, that isn't me in the picture by the way, it's my Xbox 360 Avatar dressed up as the Joker from Batman. I don't have green hair, but the skin tone is similar due to the fact I have spent the vast majority of my life indoors playing games. I don't know what my girlfriend is thinking sometimes.
